FreedomSchool offers informal peer support, advocacy and resources to Black parents and youth who are navigating suspensions, expulsions and creation/negotiating of Individual Education Plans (IEP) in schools. We have also offered support to Black parents in the form of court support, managing CAS intervention, navigating children’s mental health diagnosis. During COVID-19 we have offered grocery support, math manipulatives, art supplies, winter sports equipment, and musical instruments to parents supporting virtual learners, parents on OW/ODSP and parents living in shelters. In partnership with Adornment Stories and a local therapist, we offer a Black mom’s mental health support group. If you are a parent who is in need of advocacy support or resources you may email us at info@freedomschooltoronto.ca. Please check out our parent workshops/slideshows below.
For those working in schools, organizations, home-school groups, parent councils, and institutions, we can provide anti-Black racism training and workshops. Please email us in order to request a booking form.
